Salvator Mundi: The Lost Leonardo, A Television Series Starring Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore, an Academy Award winner, is set to portray renowned art restorer Dianne Modestini in a television adaptation of the 2021 documentary “The Lost Leonardo”. The documentary chronicles the intriguing story of the rediscovery of the “Salvator Mundi”, a painting attributed to Leonardo da Vinci that fetched a record-breaking $450 million at Christie’s in New York in 2017. The identity of the buyer, Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, was kept under wraps until later reports surfaced. Despite initial plans to display the painting at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, it has not been seen in public following the sale. Concerns regarding the provenance and restoration of the artwork persist, alongside questions about its attribution to Leonardo. The fallout from the sale continues to reverberate in the art world, with legal battles and controversies unfolding. Moore will not only portray Modestini in the series but also serve as an executive producer. The upcoming project is a collaboration between Studiocanal, The Picture Company, Entertainment 360, and Zaftig Films, with John Requa and Glenn Ficarra tapped as directors. Stay tuned for more updates as the production progresses.
