Front Triennial Cleveland Cancels 2025 Edition and Ceases Operations

Front International, a Cleveland-based art exhibition, has announced the cancellation of its planned 2025 edition and the permanent winding down of its operations. This decision comes as a result of funding issues and concerns about meeting previous high standards. The organization had previously brought renowned artists like John Akomfrah and Sonia Gomes to northeastern Ohio, aiming to establish Cleveland as a global art hub. Despite the setback, there are hopes of reviving Front International in different forms and venues. The initiative had attracted significant attention to the local art scene, drawing thousands of visitors to its past editions and leaving behind some notable public installations like Tony Tasset’s “Judy’s Hand Pavilion.”
