Andy Warhol’s Celebrity Filmed Portraits Make Hollywood Debut
Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests are set to be showcased at an exhibition at Christie’s in Beverly Hills. The collection of eight silent films features pop culture icons like Dennis Hopper, Bob Dylan, Edie Sedgwick, and Salvador Dalí. This rare exhibition offers a glimpse into Warhol’s lesser-known 16mm films from the 1960s. The event aims to raise awareness of the Andy Warhol Museum’s Film Initiative, which seeks to preserve the artist’s moving image works for future generations. The exhibition coincides with Frieze Los Angeles and the 2024 Academy Awards, making it a significant event for both art enthusiasts and the entertainment industry. Christie’s is no stranger to Warhol’s influence, having made headlines in 2022 for selling one of his works for a record-breaking price.
