Billionaire Dealer Guy Wildenstein Found Guilty of Tax Fraud in Paris Court

Paris court has found Guy Wildenstein, French-American art dealer, guilty of tax fraud, sentencing him to four years in prison (two suspended) and a €1m fine. The case involved hiding a vast art collection to avoid inheritance tax. Wildenstein, president of Wildenstein & Co. gallery, is part of a renowned art dealing dynasty. The court also convicted Alec Wildenstein Jr, with a two-year suspended prison sentence and a €37,500 fine. The case centered on concealing assets, including paintings worth €1bn, through trusts. Liouba Stoupakova, Alec Sr’s widow, received a three-month suspended prison sentence for complicity in money laundering. Additional convictions included two asset managers, who were fined €187,500.
