Richard Saltoun, a London-based gallery, is set to open a new location in New York this May, coinciding with the Frieze New York fair. The gallery’s third location will feature a solo exhibition by Canadian artist Jan Wade, showcasing her work that explores Black postcolonial identity and spirituality. Wade’s first solo exhibition in the US will highlight pieces from her extensive career, drawing inspiration from her heritage and familial ties to the American South. The gallery’s founder, Richard Saltoun, expressed excitement about joining New York’s thriving artistic landscape and contributing to its rich history of hosting significant exhibitions. This inaugural show in Manhattan will also coincide with Blum Gallery’s move downtown to Tribeca, marking a new chapter for both galleries in the art world.
