The theme ‘ECHOES’ for my solo exhibition was inspired by the idea that the displayed paintings represent echoes of my creative impulses. Most of the acrylic works were created in moments of spontaneous inspiration, capturing a raw, unfiltered glimpse into my inner world. The energy and immediacy of these moments are reflected in the strong and vivid colours used, designed to captivate and energize the viewer. I hope that this exhibition resonates with the audience as a vibrant and dynamic display of my artistic spirit, bursting with energy and emotion.
For the ‘ECHOES’ exhibition, the selection process was collaboratively managed by the expert committee at Miart Gallery along with its owner, Ms. Irem Deniz, and myself. This allowed us to carefully choose pieces that best convey the theme and message of the show. I believe we’ve successfully curated a collection that highlights the most significant and expressive works, showcasing a rich tapestry of my artistic journey.
As an artist who originates from a country with a relatively small art market like Slovenia, I recognised early on the necessity of showcasing my work on an international stage. This realisation led to a broader mission through my company, AAMI Corporation, which not only supports my artistic endeavours but also serves as a platform to promote other artists globally.
At AAMI, we are committed to nurturing emerging talent and enabling them to gain the exposure and experience that are often less accessible within the confines of Slovenia’s art scene. To achieve this, we organise pop-up shows and art events in various international locations, such as Hong Kong, Dubai, the UK, and across Europe. These events are vital not just for exhibiting art but also for fostering a cross-cultural dialogue that enriches both the artists and the global audiences they engage with.
For this exhibition, my first major solo show in the UK, I am particularly excited to introduce attendees to a wave of fresh energy through my bold and dynamic, colourful artworks. One of the highlights of the show is my collection “Los 12 Apóstoles”, where I delve into a blend of abstract art and figurative elements. In each painting, inspired by one of the twelve apostles, viewers can discover a portrait or silhouette of an apostle—if they look closely enough.
This series invites attendees to engage deeply with the artwork, encouraging a more interactive experience as they explore the layers and hidden depths within each piece. I aim for the audience to not only appreciate the aesthetics of these works but also connect with the underlying stories and emotions. Each piece is crafted to evoke curiosity and contemplation, and I hope that attendees will leave with a renewed appreciation for the depth and complexity that abstract art can convey.
Yes, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with other artists and creative professionals on several occasions, particularly through collective exhibitions. These experiences have been enriching, providing me with opportunities to engage with diverse artistic visions and approaches.
In my view, the essential skills for a good artist include creativity, technical proficiency, and effective visual communication. Creativity is crucial for generating innovative ideas and concepts. Technical proficiency allows an artist to skillfully execute these ideas across different mediums and techniques. Moreover, the ability to express emotions, messages, or narratives visually lets the artist connect deeply with viewers, enhancing engagement and appreciation of their work.
To new artists aspiring to make art their career, my advice is: if you truly want to succeed, you must be prepared to invest absolutely everything in your development and career. This means dedicating your time, energy, and finances wholeheartedly. Give it all you have, and I am confident you will see results.
In my experience working with many young artists, I’ve noticed a common issue—impatience. Many do not have the patience to persist in their efforts without immediate results. It’s crucial to understand that success in the arts doesn’t come overnight. It took me many years of hard work and substantial investment in my own journey to reach where I am today.
