$2,000,000 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss 75/75 to Hit the Auction Without Reserve

On October 6, 2024, Bonhams|Cars will return to Knokke-Heist, Belgium, for The Zoute Sale, one of the most prominent events on its international auction calendar. The sale is known for its impressive results, with last year’s auction achieving a record €27 million. A centerpiece of this year’s auction is a stunning 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, estimated to fetch between €1,500,000 and €2,500,000. Offered without reserve, this monochromatic red-on-red vehicle is number 75 of the ultra-exclusive 75-unit Stirling Moss series. Presented with delivery mileage, this vehicle offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a nearly “brand new” example of this iconic car.

The SLR Stirling Moss, named after the legendary British racing driver, debuted at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. Designed by Yoon Il-hun, the car features a unique speedster style with no roof or windscreen, reminiscent of the 300 SLR race car. The interior, crafted by Dutch designer Sarkis Benliyan, complements the car’s distinctive exterior.

Under the hood, the SLR Stirling Moss is powered by a supercharged 5.4-litre SLR AMG V8 engine, delivering 650 PS (478 kW; 641 hp). The car can reach a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3 seconds. Thanks to its carbon fiber construction and speedster design, it is approximately 200 kg (441 lb) lighter than the regular SLR model.

Production of the SLR Stirling Moss began in June 2009, following the discontinuation of the SLR Roadster in May of the same year. All 75 units were completed by December 2009, each priced at over US$1 million and available exclusively to existing SLR owners.

This particular vehicle recently drew considerable attention at the Bonhams|Cars Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale on July 12. Now, it is set to capture the spotlight once more at The Zoute Sale.
