Expert Analysis Confirms Authenticity of Disputed Tarsila do Amaral Piece at SP-Arte Fair

A newly discovered work by the renowned Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral has been authenticated after facing doubts about its authenticity. The painting, titled “Landscape” and dating back to 1925, was initially shown at this year’s SP-Arte fair. Expert analysis confirmed its attribution to do Amaral, with extensive tests and research conducted to verify its legitimacy.

The authentication process involved a thorough examination by authorized expert Douglas Quintale, who established a database for comparison and conducted scientific tests such as scanning, X-rays, and paint analysis. The painting’s history dates back to the artist’s time in Paris and has survived various challenges, including bombings in Lebanon.

The painting’s value has significantly increased since its authentication, now priced at 60m reais ($11m). Negotiations for the sale are ongoing, with the potential for the painting to be displayed in an institution in the Middle East. While the discovery of additional works by do Amaral is uncertain, the newfound painting expands the artist’s legacy and artistic production.
