Qatar Museums and Venice’s new co-operation aims to restore symbolic parts of the city

Qatar Museums and the city of Venice have announced a protocol of co-operation to develop collaboration in cultural fields, including the restoration of symbolic parts of Venice. The announcement was made during the Art for Tomorrow conference in Venice. Qatar Museums has produced the exhibition “Your Ghosts Are Mine, Expanded Cinemas, Amplified Voices” at ACP-Palazzo Franchetti, featuring loans in prominent exhibitions. The protocol covers activities such as the protection of cultural heritage, exhibitions, seminars on art history, and artist collaborations. The potential restoration of Venice comes at a crucial time as rising sea levels threaten the city’s architectural integrity. The exhibition “Your Ghosts Are Mine” showcases films and video installations from the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, exploring themes of time, science fiction, and social issues. The exhibition reflects on contradictory emotions and the connection between history, nature, and space. It presents works by artists such as Lida Abdul, Wael Shawky, Hassan Khan, and Sophia Al Maria. The show aims to delve into the past, present, and future through the lens of independent film-making voices.
