Bronx Museum’s Executive Director Departs Amid $33M Renovation Project to Lead MFA St Petersburg

Klaudio Rodriguez, the former executive director of the Bronx Museum, has left to take on a new role as the executive director and chief executive of the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida. Rodriguez played a key role in the Bronx Museum’s $33 million expansion and renovation project, which is set to be completed in 2026. He expressed his gratitude for his time at the Bronx Museum and expressed his excitement to return to his home state of Florida.

Rodriguez, who previously served as the chief curator at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum in Miami, is looking forward to returning to the region where he began his career in arts and culture. The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg welcomed Rodriguez as its new leader, following the departure of Anne-Marie Russell.

Russell’s tenure at the Museum of Fine Arts was brief and overshadowed by a scandal involving an exhibition of Greek antiquities with incomplete provenance documentation. The curator of the exhibition, Michael Bennett, was eventually fired by the museum. Rodriguez will now lead the museum, focusing on enriching lives through art and creating inclusive spaces for all.
