Centre Pompidou Málaga Secures Ten More Years in Historic Location

The Centre Pompidou’s outpost gallery in Málaga will remain open for another decade following a new partnership agreement between the city council and officials at the Paris gallery. The subterranean Centre Pompidou Málaga, located beneath a vibrant glass cube on the waterfront, has been a popular destination for art lovers since it opened in March 2015. The current exhibition, “Place-ness”, showcases works from the Centre Pompidou collection, including pieces by renowned artists such as Gerhard Richter and Otobong Nkanga. This outpost is considered a “laboratory” for the Pompidou’s international ambitions, with projects in Saudi Arabia and South Korea on the horizon. However, concerns have been raised about the Pompidou’s upcoming renovation in Paris, which could see the museum closed for five years starting in 2025.
