Ewa Juszkiewicz’s Venice Exhibition Showcases Five Years of Faceless Portraits
Ewa Juszkiewicz’s latest exhibition in Venice features striking oil paintings that reimagines classic portraits of women from the 18th and 19th centuries. Her work challenges traditional beauty ideals and highlights the limitations of historical depictions of women. Through her use of concealment and unique visual interpretations, Juszkiewicz aims to create a new narrative for her subjects and bring attention to the complexities of women’s roles and fashion during that time period. The exhibition, titled “Locks with Leaves and Swellings Buds,” showcases 15 recent works that explore these themes in a variety of ways. Juszkiewicz’s paintings, displayed at Palazzo Cavanis, are a thoughtful dialogue with the historic setting and architecture of Venice, adding a contemporary twist to the traditional backdrop.
