Legal Battle Erupting Over Pérez Art Museum Miami’s Digital Billboard

Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (Pamm) new 1,800ft digital billboard, meant to generate additional revenue, is facing potential legal challenges after Miami’s city commissioners voted to repeal the law that allowed its construction. The billboard, which is more than twice the size of what is normally allowed, has sparked concerns from residents and is now under scrutiny for potential lease violations. The museum insists that it is in compliance with all applicable laws and agreements. Despite generating millions in revenue annually, the billboard’s impact on the local community has raised objections. The repeal of the law also affects plans for the nearby Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts to build similar billboards. The 2023 law that permitted these billboards was introduced by a commissioner who is now facing a range of felony charges.
