Transforming Metropolitan Museum’s Outdoor Spaces in 2025: Jeffrey Gibson and Jennie C. Jones
[ad_1]
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has commissioned sonic and visual artist Jennie C. Jones and multidisciplinary artist Jeffrey Gibson to create new works for its exterior spaces in 2025. Jones will create a sculptural installation for the museum’s rooftop garden, while Gibson will create four sculptures for the vacant pedestals on the façade of the museum’s Fifth Avenue building. Both artists bring unique perspectives on beauty and cultural history to their works. Jones’s installation will explore the metaphysical and formal qualities of art history through stringed instruments, while Gibson’s sculptures will depict ancestral spirit figures using Native American craft traditions. These new works will be on view in 2025, showcasing the artists’ diverse backgrounds and artistic approaches.
