Basquiat Stretcher-Bar Painting Expected to Fetch $30 Million in New York Spring Auctions
Jean-Michel Basquiat’s iconic painting from 1982 featuring his signature symbols and text is set to go up for auction at Christie’s in New York with an estimated value of around $30m. The painting, titled “The Italian Version of Popeye has no Pork in his Diet,” will be part of an evening auction of 21st-century art on May 14th. Additionally, other big works by Basquiat will be available for purchase at upcoming spring sales in New York, including pieces at Phillips and Sotheby’s.
