Controversial Depiction of Rape in Gentileschi Show Sparks Student Protests

Titled “Artemisia Gentileschi: Courage and Passion,” the exhibition at Genoa’s Palazzo Ducale showcases the artist’s work, including a multimedia installation depicting the assault in 1611. Despite criticism from female students, the organisers defend it as a denunciation of violence. The Foundation of the Palazzo Ducale stands by the exhibition’s message against violence towards women.
