Dominic Chambers Reveals His Favorite Art Purchases
Dominic Chambers is currently featured in the group exhibition “When We See Us: A Century of Black Figurative Painting”. His paintings, “All This Life in Us” and “Blue Park Lovers”, are on display alongside works by other prominent artists. Chambers explores the concept of the “veil” in Black life through a Magical Realism-inspired style. His upcoming solo exhibition in London is highly anticipated.
Chambers also shares his passion for collecting art, mentioning his first purchase by Chloe West and his most recent acquisition by Sara Rahmanian. He highlights emerging artists such as Olivia Jia, Jade Thacker, Adam Amram, and Alexandria Couch as ones to watch. When it comes to his collection, Chambers values the dialogue between artworks and enjoys the interactions within his home.
Reflecting on missed opportunities, Chambers does not dwell on regrets but looks forward to encountering significant works in the art world. If he could choose any artwork from a museum, he mentions pieces by Vermeer, Georges Seurat, Joan Mitchell, and Kerry James Marshall as some of his top picks.
