French artist Eva Jospin will showcase a monumental 105-meter-long embroidery titled “Chambre de Soie (A Room of One’s Own)” at the Palace of Versailles from 18 June to 29 September. The tapestry, inspired by the Embroidery Room of the Palazzo Colonna in Rome and Virginia Woolf’s novel “A Room of One’s Own,” was hand embroidered in India. Jospin will also add a panel inspired by the Apollo’s Baths Grove. This exhibition follows previous controversial contemporary shows at Versailles, including Jeff Koons and Anish Kapoor. In 2016, Olafur Eliasson transformed the palace with dramatic installations. Furthermore, the French audit court has criticized the extension of Catherine Pégard’s presidency at Versailles.
