The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Lacma) is set to host a new exhibition of Zeng Fanzhi’s latest works in Venice during the 60th Venice Biennale. Titled “Near and Far/Now and Then,” the exhibition will be displayed at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, featuring an installation by architect Tadao Ando from April 17th to September 30th. Co-curated by Lacma’s director Michael Govan and curator of Chinese art Stephen Little, the show will showcase Zeng’s abstract oil paintings and pieces created with ink, graphite, chalk, and gold dust on handmade paper, blending Christian, Buddhist, and Daoist elements. Little describes Zeng’s work as a juxtaposition of thick, topographical materials and thin, translucent materials, inviting viewers to engage from both a distant and intimate perspective. Govan praises Zeng’s work as a harmonious blend of technical skill and emotional depth. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience Zeng Fanzhi’s “Near and Far/Now and Then” exhibition at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice from April 17th to September 30th.
