Paintings rescued from Notre Dame fire to be displayed in Paris

An exhibition showcasing twenty one paintings rescued from the fire that ravaged Notre Dame in 2019 will be held at the Mobilier National in Paris. The collection includes 13 paintings from the historic “Mays” series, featuring works by renowned artists like Jacques Blanchard and Charles Le Brun. The paintings were restored by experts in partnership with the Mobilier National and the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France. The exhibit also includes a 27-meter long rug commissioned by Charles X and tapestries depicting the life of the Virgin Mary. Additionally, the show will feature contemporary creations by French designer Guillaume Bardet. The restored paintings are set to be returned to Notre Dame upon its partial reopening later this year.
