Tate’s 2025 Exhibition Programme Featuring Leigh Bowery, Emily Kam Kngwarray, and Lee Miller
Tate Modern is set to host the first major museum exhibition in the UK dedicated to the influential Australian performance artist Leigh Bowery next year. The exhibition will explore Bowery’s groundbreaking work from his early days in London’s club scene to his provocative performances that continue to inspire artists such as Alexander McQueen and Lady Gaga.
In collaboration with the Estate of Leigh Bowery, the exhibition at Tate Modern will highlight his collaborations with artists like Lucian Freud, Michael Clark, and Nick Knight. Bowery’s impact on the art world will be showcased through his use of the body as a transformative tool.
Additionally, Tate Modern will feature an exhibition of works by the 20th-century Aboriginal artist Emily Kam Kngwarray, offering a rare presentation of her art in Europe. The show will celebrate Kngwarray’s prolific output and her unique artistic vision.
Other upcoming exhibitions at Tate Modern include a survey of Nigerian Modernism, an exploration of Pablo Picasso’s iconic painting “The Three Dancers,” and a retrospective of UK artist Ed Atkins. Tate Britain will also present shows dedicated to Lee Miller, JMW Turner, and John Constable, among others.
Tate St Ives will showcase exhibitions by artists like Małgorzata Mirga-Tas and Liliane Lijn, while Tate Liverpool will continue its programming at RIBA North during its renovation period. These diverse exhibitions promise to offer a rich and engaging art experience for visitors in the coming year.
