Avoid Falling Victim to the Fake Ticket Scam at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam issues warning after reports of fraudulent ticket website attempting to steal credit card information.

Around 50 visitors alerted the museum to a fake website selling tickets to see Van Gogh’s artworks, which was actually a scam to harvest bank details. The website, “vangoghshop.pro”, has since been taken down.

Visitors were tricked into entering their credit card information to purchase tickets for exhibitions, only to later discover the fraud when their cards were blocked due to attempted theft.

The museum urges visitors to only book tickets through its official website, tickets.vangoghmuseum.com, and has reported the scam to Google and the police. They advise affected individuals to contact their bank immediately and file a report to prevent further financial harm.

Despite the scam, the Van Gogh Museum remains a popular destination, attracting 1.3 million visitors worldwide in 2022.
