James Fuentes embraces downtown roots with new Tribeca headquarters

This move signifies the next step for a dealer committed to supporting downtown artists. The new space at 52 White Street opened with the exhibition “Color Codes” by Kikuo Saito. The gallery’s relocation marks a milestone for Fuentes, who has been dedicated to showcasing artists with unique practices. His interest in curation was sparked during his time at Bard College, where he studied film-making and anthropology. Fuentes found mentorship in Jonas Mekas and has continued to thrive in the art world. By bringing artists from the fringes to the forefront, Fuentes aims to “renovate” art history.
