Romania’s Rad Fair Returns for Round Two: Bigger and Better

The annual Bucharest art fair Rad is set to return to the lakeside location in the north of the Romanian capital this month. The fair, which was first launched in 2023, will feature an increased number of participating galleries, with 26 in total, and will include a new design section along with a range of talks and events.

Organized by leading contemporary galleries in Romania, Rad aims to play a significant role in the country’s art market and support the growing art scene. This year, the fair has partnered with Banca Transilvania to help finance its expansion.

Founded by artist and gallerist Daniela Pălimariu and dealer Catinca Tăbăcaru, Rad aims to celebrate the achievements of the Romanian art scene and bring together active galleries from across the country. The fair emphasizes collaboration and unity among art scenes on the periphery to foster successful development.

Featuring nine co-organizing galleries, including Plan B, Jecza, and Galeria Posibila, Rad showcases a diverse range of artists and aims to become a vital part of the Romanian art scene. New participants for the 2024 edition include the Vienna-based gallery Gregor Podnar and Bucharest’s Ivan Gallery, showcasing works by renowned Romanian artists.

Rad will take place at Caro Hotel in Bucharest from May 16-19.
