  1. Since you mentioned it I’d love to see a video on how to identify Chinese Imari vs. Japanese Imari. What differences to look for and whatnot. While at it maybe going into generally identifying Chinese ceramics vs. Japanese ceramics for the novice. Most things are relatively easy to identify once you’ve put in some time and research but there are always items that pop up that one isn’t quite sure about. There is no short video that could teach everything to look for but some tips might be helpful. Spur marks, differences in dragon depiction, etc., I’m sure many people would appreciate any help they can get. I can name a few auction houses that could use the help that’s for sure. Although I think they often mistake Japanese items for Chinese items knowing that the “mistaken” ID will garner some extra novice bids. That’s a different story though. Just a thought.

Btw, I’m digging seeing some non Chinese items in the videos more. Variety is the spice of life after all.

  2. The salts are going relatively cheap because the old ladies who used to collect them have died off. We'll just have to wait for a younger generation to decide they can't live without them. 😊

  3. For the auction from Marques dos santos, I saw new paints on old items from several passed lots. not sure whether it is a new forge strategy, just, be cautious and good luck!

  4. Thanks Peter; the hatstands by lathol87 are new, all their stuff is very well done, but new – that's why the low price. Have been tracking this seller for a while – most resold again and again. They are getting these figures down pat, but the enamels and marks are still wrong…..
